Time Guidelines for Gup Examinations in Tae Kwon Do

 

 

   10th Gup to 9th Gup - 12 to 16 Weeks Training

 

 

    9th Gup to 8th Gup - 12 to 16 Weeks Training

 

 

     8th Gup to 7th Gup - 12 to 16 Weeks Training

 

 

    7th Gup to 6th Gup - 16 to 20 Weeks Training

 

 

  6th Gup to 5th Gup - 16 to 20 Weeks Training

 

 

    5th Gup to 4th Gup - 26 to 32 Weeks Training

 

 

     4th Gup to 3rd Gup - 26 to 32 Weeks Training

 

 

    3rd Gup to 2nd Gup - 26 to 32 Weeks Training

 

 

     2nd Gup to 1st Gup - 26 to 32 Weeks Training

 

 

    1st Gup to 1st Dan - 26 to 52 Weeks Training

 

 

The minimum time requirements will be monitored closely depending on the student’s ability and mental development.

 

There will be 3-4 Gup Simsas per year. Students who have both the physical and time requirements met will be allowed to test. However, exceptions can be made by the Master Instructor or Senior Instructor to allow a student to test early.
